Why −1 for this episode
The episode treats the Devil as a charming, sympathetic hero and plays Eve's desire for him as romance, while still valuing justice and honest friendship. That reworking of Scripture gives an ambivalent outlook.

Faith & story
What does it say?
What's it about? The plot, without the ending
A man who designs jewellery is killed, and the piece he had only just finished making disappears. Lucifer and Chloe each work the case in their own way, with less trust between them than before. Meanwhile an old flame from Lucifer's past turns up at his nightclub, and the friends around them face changes of their own.
Through a faith lensHow it connects to the Bible
This episode reworks Scripture into fantasy. Eve, the first woman, is cast as Lucifer's old flame who has left Adam and Heaven to be with him. In Genesis, Eve's first meeting with the serpent led to deception and exile, not romance. Lucifer is presented as charming and misunderstood, yet Scripture calls the devil a liar and the father of lies, and warns that he disguises himself as an angel of light. Chloe's hurt at seeing a kiss, and her loyalty to the case despite it, show how betrayal and keeping things back wound a partnership. Lucifer and Chloe each hide their feelings, while the Bible urges speaking truth in love. The murder plot, in which a partner kills for the sake of profit, echoes the warning that the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Linda and Amenadiel's worry over their coming child touches on the hopes and fears of parenthood, which Scripture calls a heritage from the Lord. Families may find it useful to talk about where the show departs from the biblical account of the devil.

Chloe shows faithfulness by staying on the case and sticking by her partners despite her hurt, and Kindness and Goodness appear when she reaches out to Linda over the shared secret of the supernatural. Lucifer's rescue of Eve is also an act of Goodness. Works of the flesh dominate: Sexual immorality in the flirtation and kiss between Lucifer and Eve, and Jealousy in the sting Chloe feels at seeing it. Idolatry shows in the greed for a prized necklace, which Hatred and Envy turn deadly when a partner murders the jeweller. Lucifer's unrestrained pursuit of what he wants is not checked by self-control.

No Christians or church appear in this episode. Faith shows up only through the series' fantasy angels and its irreverent reworking of Genesis, with God spoken of as a distant Father rather than worshipped.
