Faith & story
What does it say?
What's it about? The plot, without the ending
Rory has been kidnapped by the killer Le Mec, and Lucifer and Chloe set out to save her. As the danger closes in, Lucifer must face what he owes his family and what he believes his purpose to be. The series reaches its final choices about duty, love and sacrifice.
Through a faith lensHow it connects to the Bible
This finale turns on sacrificial love and refusing revenge, themes Scripture treats seriously. Lucifer lays down his freedom for the sake of others, and Jesus said there is no greater love than giving one's life for one's friends. Rory is pressed to kill the man who hurt her family, and Lucifer urges her to hold back, in keeping with Paul's call not to repay evil for evil. The story's talk of second chances echoes the shepherd who goes after one lost sheep. Yet its picture of the devil as a gentle counsellor of the damned, of an angel taking God's throne, and of Hell as a place where souls can be talked into leaving departs sharply from the Bible. Scripture describes Satan as an adversary and deceiver, and God as the one who alone is sovereign. Redemption in the Bible comes through Christ's finished work and repentance, not through therapy. Families may find it useful to separate the real virtues on show from the invented theology.

- Joy

- Goodness
Love is the heart of the episode: Lucifer and Chloe risk themselves for Rory and for each other, and their goodbye is tender. Faithfulness shows in Chloe's loyalty as she stays at Lucifer's side, and in Lucifer keeping his promise to Rory. Gentleness and kindness appear when Lucifer talks Rory down rather than fighting, and Rory's self-control in stopping short of killing her captor is the moment the story rests on. Peace comes as old wounds are settled and a family makes its farewells. Hatred is visible in Le Mec, who kidnaps and stabs out of malice, and in Rory's rage before she is calmed.

How Christians are portrayed
No Christians or church appear. God, Heaven and Hell are treated as story elements, with God shown as a role an angel can take over rather than as the Lord worshipped in Scripture. Faith itself is neither mocked nor practised.
