Faith & story
What does it say?
What's it about? The plot, without the ending
Roman authorities learn where Jesus is staying and send soldiers to arrest him. While his followers argue over what to do, Andrew and Philip search for news of him and meet familiar faces along the way. Elsewhere, old tensions in Capernaum and Jotapata begin to surface.
Through a faith lensHow it connects to the Bible
This episode sets two responses to danger side by side: fear that argues and scrambles, and trust that stays calm. Jesus gives himself up peacefully, much as Isaiah's servant was led like a lamb without opening his mouth. The disciples, by contrast, quarrel about how to act, a little like the disciples in the boat who panicked while Jesus was with them. Andrew's instinct to silence those who testify to a healing shows how fear can make even good people try to manage God's work. Yet the healed witnesses recall the man born blind, who simply told what had happened to him. The closing request to be taught to pray echoes the disciples' own plea in Luke, and it points to prayer as the answer to anxiety rather than argument. Jesus' calm before a Roman official also recalls his later words about a kingdom not of this world. The episode affirms that peace comes from trusting the Father, not from controlling events.
Fruit of the SpiritWhich fruit does it show?
4 out of 9 fruits ripe in this episode
Ripe grapes are shown in the episode, buds are missing
- Love
- Patience
- Kindness
- Goodness
Peace and gentleness are seen in Jesus, who surrenders calmly to arrest and answers a Roman official without hostility. Faithfulness shows in the healed man Ethan and in Tamar, who joyfully give their testimony of the miracle, and in the disciples' loyalty as they search for Jesus. The disciples' fear spills into fits of anger and strife, and their argument over what to do leaves them in divisions until Jesus returns. Self-control is the fruit most clearly missing as they lose their composure.

How Christians are portrayed
Faith is shown warmly and sincerely. The disciples are portrayed honestly as frightened, quarrelsome and flawed rather than as models, while Jesus is calm and compassionate. Healed people speak of their experience with gratitude, and prayer is presented as a gift to be learned.
